Design & Development Engineer – Electric & Electronic Systems (Summer Internship)

We combine mechanical engineering, marine design, and intelligent electronics to build the future of boating — including electric systems, smart consoles, and integrated control platforms.
**Position Overview**
We are seeking a motivated **Design \& Development Engineer (Electric \& Electronic Systems)** for a summer internship.
This role is ideal for engineering students who want real-world experience working on **electric boats, control systems, and embedded hardware**.
You will work directly on live projects, including battery systems, CAN communication, sensors, and smart control interfaces.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Assist in designing and prototyping **electric propulsion systems (24V / 48V)**
* Support development of **embedded systems and control modules**
* Work with **CAN bus communication systems** and diagnostics
* Integrate sensors (voltage, current, GPS, IMU, etc.)
* Assist in building and testing **Smart Console (OceanAI system)**
* Participate in wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems
* Document designs, test results, and system configurations
**Technical Skills (Preferred)**
* Basic knowledge of electronics and circuit design
* Familiarity with embedded systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers)
* Understanding of communication protocols (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI)
* Experience with Linux environment is an asset
* Programming experience (Python, C/C\+\+) is a plus
**Requirements**
* Currently enrolled in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field)
* Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on mindset
* Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced startup environment
* Able to work on-site in Oakville
