**About Us** Ai Oceans Inc. is a Canadian marine technology company developing next-generation **smart boats and electric propulsion systems** under the INNOVOCEAN and AIOCEAN brands. We combine mechanical engineering, marine design, and intelligent electronics to build the future of boating — including electric systems, smart consoles, and integrated control platforms. **Position Overview** We are seeking a motivated **Design \& Development Engineer (Electric \& Electronic Systems)** for a summer internship. This role is ideal for engineering students who want real-world experience working on **electric boats, control systems, and embedded hardware**. You will work directly on live projects, including battery systems, CAN communication, sensors, and smart control interfaces. **Key Responsibilities** * Assist in designing and prototyping **electric propulsion systems (24V / 48V)** * Support development of **embedded systems and control modules** * Work with **CAN bus communication systems** and diagnostics * Integrate sensors (voltage, current, GPS, IMU, etc.) * Assist in building and testing **Smart Console (OceanAI system)** * Participate in wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems * Document designs, test results, and system configurations **Technical Skills (Preferred)** * Basic knowledge of electronics and circuit design * Familiarity with embedded systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers) * Understanding of communication protocols (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI) * Experience with Linux environment is an asset * Programming experience (Python, C/C\+\+) is a plus **Requirements** * Currently enrolled in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field) * Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on mindset * Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced startup environment * Able to work on-site in Oakville **What You’ll Gain** * Hands-on experience building **real electric marine systems** * Exposure to **battery systems, motor control, and smart interfaces** * Direct mentorship and involvement in product development * Opportunity to contribute to a **next-generation smart boat platform** * Potential for long-term role after internship **Ideal Candidate** * Passionate about **electric vehicles, robotics, or marine tech** * Enjoys both **hardware and software integration** * Builder mindset — not just theory, but execution Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal Contract length: 6 months Pay: From $20\.00 per hour Expected hours: 30 per week Work Location: In person
