Junior Developer – AI Web Tools (Part-Time / Student)

Surry Hills, Australia
2026-04-22

Role Description

**About the Role** GoVisually builds free AI-powered tools for packaging and CPG professionals — nutrition label generators, PDF compliance checkers, print proof comparisons, and more. We're looking for a sharp part-time developer or final-year CS/engineering student for a paid internship to help build and maintain these tools. This is real product work, not busy work. You'll be shipping features that thousands of food, supplement, and cosmetics professionals use every day — and working the way modern AI-assisted development teams actually work. **What You'll Work On** * Adding features and fixing bugs across 6 live web tools * Integrating AI APIs (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) into web apps * Building lead capture flows and usage metering (the kind of product thinking that matters at a startup) * Improving UI/UX with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui components **Tech Stack** * **Frontend**: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS * **Backend**: Python (FastAPI), Next.js API routes * **AI**: Gemini API, Claude API (Vercel AI SDK) * **Tools**: Git, GitHub, **Claude Code** (Anthropic's AI coding CLI — this is how we work) **You're a Good Fit If You** * Are a final-year CS, Software Engineering, or IT student — or a recent graduate * Have built something with React or Next.js (even a personal project counts) * Use or are eager to learn **Claude Code** — we use it daily and expect you to as well * Are comfortable reading existing code and figuring out where to make changes * Can work independently and communicate clearly when you're stuck * Care about shipping things that actually work, not just look good in a PR **Nice to Have** * Experience with Python or FastAPI * Have used any LLM API (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, etc.) * Already use Claude Code or similar AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.) * Familiarity with PDF rendering (PDF.js, PyMuPDF) or canvas libraries (Fabric.js) * Interest in food tech, CPG, or regulatory compliance (niche but very useful context) **What We Offer** * \~15–20 hours per week, flexible around your uni schedule * Fully remote — work from wherever (but somedays to come into office) * Can be structured as a formal internship for academic credit if needed * Interesting problems across a range of tech stacks * Direct exposure to product thinking, not just ticket execution * You'll leave knowing how to build and ship AI-powered products end-to-end * Reference and mentorship for the right person **Why This Role/Intership Is Different** Most internships have you reading docs or sitting in meetings. Here you'll be committing real code to live products from week one, using AI-assisted development tools the way the industry is actually moving. If you want to understand how modern startups build software with AI, this is it. **How to Apply** Send a short note (3–4 sentences max — we can tell if you used ChatGPT - so please don't) explaining what you've built and a link to your GitHub or a project you're proud of. Bonus points if you've already tried Claude Code. No cover letter template needed. **About GoVisually** GoVisually is a Sydney-based SaaS platform for creative and packaging teams. Our free tools are used by CPG brands, packaging agencies, and regulatory consultants across the US, EU, and Australia. govisually.com Pay: From $25\.00 per hour Work Location: Hybrid remote in Surry Hills NSW 2010
