Technical Support Specialist
Role Description
**Job Summary**
The IT Support is responsible for providing technical support, system troubleshooting, infrastructure support, and user assistance to ensure smooth and secure IT operations. This role supports end-user computing, hardware and software troubleshooting, network connectivity, system access, and basic server administration, including Linux-based environments. The position also assists in maintaining IT assets, system documentation, and operational support for business applications and internal systems.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Technical Support \& Helpdesk**
* Provide first-level and second-level technical support for hardware, software, operating systems, printers, email, and network-related issues.
* Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported IT incidents and service requests within the required timeline.
* Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
* Support user account setup, password reset, email configuration, and system access requests.
**System Administration Support**
* Support daily system operations, including user administration, file access, shared folders, and endpoint setup.
* Assist in system updates, patching, software deployment, and routine maintenance activities.
* Monitor system status and escalate unresolved technical issues where necessary.
* Support backup checking, antivirus updates, and basic IT security controls.
**Linux Support**
* Provide support for **Linux-based systems and servers**, including basic troubleshooting and issue diagnosis.
* Assist in Linux user account management, file permissions, service checks, and log review.
* Support basic command-line administration and routine monitoring of Linux environments.
* Coordinate with internal teams or vendors on Linux-related support and system issues.
**Network \& Infrastructure Support**
* Assist in maintaining LAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, printers, and network devices.
* Support troubleshooting of network, connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues.
* Help maintain server room equipment, IT hardware inventory, and infrastructure documentation.
* Coordinate with vendors on hardware servicing, internet issues, and IT maintenance support.
**Documentation \& IT Asset Management**
* Maintain IT support records, incident logs, asset inventory, software licenses, and technical documentation accurately.
* Track IT asset issuance, return, repair, and replacement status.
* Ensure proper documentation of configurations, user requests, and technical procedures.
* Support audit and compliance requirements related to IT documentation and access control.
**Job Requirements**
* Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, System Administration, or related field.
* At least **2–4 years** of relevant working experience in IT support, technical support, helpdesk, or system support environment.
* **Fresh graduates are welcome to apply** if they possess strong technical fundamentals and willingness to learn.
* Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, printers, and end-user support.
* **Knowledge of Linux systems and basic Linux administration is required.**
* Familiar with basic networking concepts, user support processes, and troubleshooting methodologies.
* Experience in Active Directory, backup systems, ERP support, ticketing systems, or remote support tools is an added advantage.
* Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
* Able to work independently and manage multiple support requests effectively.
* Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
**Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an added advantage.**
**Preferred Competencies**
* Good technical troubleshooting and root cause identification skills.
* Basic hands-on knowledge of Linux commands, permissions, logs, and service monitoring.
* Service-oriented mindset with good user communication skills.
* Strong documentation and IT asset control ability.
* Responsible, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced IT support environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Internship
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM3,000\.00 - RM6,500\.00 per month
