**Information Technology Intern** **Full-time Canada Summer Jobs Opportunity** **8-Week Contract** **York Region** **Who we are**: Job Skills delivers programs and services to individuals and organizations to meet the evolving needs of the labour market. **What we need**:The successful candidate will meet the following criteria: · Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment · Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the *Immigration and Refugee Protection Act********for the duration of the employment and, · Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations ******International Students are not eligible* Applicants should also have the following qualifications/skills: · Have excellent communication skills (written, verbal) · Have excellent customer services skills with both internal and external customers · Have superior organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, in a fast-paced environment · Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) Preferred candidates will be enrolled in either a college and/or university level program, majoring in one of the following disciplines: · Information Technology or related field **What you will do**: The Information Technology Assistant position will support the activities of the organization’s IT department and will be responsible for the following learning objectives and job tasks: **System Administration** · Assisting in configuring and deploying computer desktops, laptops and servers. · Troubleshooting hardware and software problems. · Supporting the Information Technology Administrator with software deployment and data backup. · Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems. · Maintaining organization’s information technology equipment documentation. · Assisting with maintenance and security audit for the organization’s network and infrastructure as per industry standards. **Communication** · Ensuring that the Information Technology/Operations Director and Information Technology Manager are kept aware of critical issues and weekly activities through the development of a communication strategy. · Maintaining a working relationship with all members of the Job Skills’ organization. · Maintaining a consistent and professional work atmosphere for staff and clients. **Special Projects** · Assisting the Information Technology Staff in deploying software across Job Skills office computers using new automated technologies. · Learn and apply AI tools to support system troubleshooting, automation, and day-to-day IT operations. · Updating and maintaining the organization’s Information Technology Asset Management database by analyzing the organization’s current hardware devices deployment. **General Office Duties** · Becoming familiar with Job Skills’ mandate, objectives and programs, through the review of available literature, involvement in staff meetings and site-specific visits. · Developing and maintaining a working relationship with all Job Skills’ Departments, at all Job Skills’ offices. · Learning to operate basic office equipment, systems and programs (e.g. phone systems, photocopier, postage machine, computer programs, AI, emails and directories, etc.).
