Audio Visual Technician Intern
Role Description
**JOB OVERVIEW**
QA Systems is looking for an outstanding individual to join our AV Integration team for an exciting learning experience. This individual will be learning to support installing and configuring audio visual systems for various industries including education, government, and private sector. They must possess a high level of integrity, an inherent passion for audio visual technology and a commitment to being a lifelong learner. On the job training, continued education in the AV industry, and full time employment may be offered to the ideal candidate after the internship has completed.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS \& RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Audio Visual Support:
* Install Video systems: flat panel displays, projectors, projector screens, video walls, display and signage controls, etc. and be able to troubleshoot systems.
* Install audio systems: wall/ceiling/floor mounted speakers, audio racks, wireless systems, dante audio networks, mixers, ceiling/floor/handheld microphones, etc.
* Fabricate racks in-house or onsite at client location, and rig/mount AV equipment.
* Maintaining and growing knowledge in AV technology, and serving as a resource to in- house staff and customers.
* Computer and General Technology Support:
* Provide computer, software, basic networking, and mobile device support.
* Connect computers to AV systems and configure for control and I/O.
* Installation and General Construction:
* Work in a construction environment, installing low voltage cabling and connections, following industry standard practices and guidelines.
* Installation of structured cabling, pulling, terminating, and testing video and audio cables: Crimp, solder, wire pull, label, terminate, and other technical tasks.
* Installation of all AV equipment to include: AV conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, sound reinforcement, control and presentation systems.
* Assist with mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring.
* Responsible for time tracking, and detailed documentation of field activities.
* Must be able to travel and work at various job sites in the greater Austin area.
**SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS**
* Basic understanding of software or logic programming.
* Basic understanding of wiring and cabling, signals, and cable/connection types.
* Basic understanding of computer technology, and electronic device technology such as smart phones, mobile applications, wireless networking, and troubleshooting.
* Must have a high level of competency in writing and grammar.
* Must be able to work and produce results under minimal supervision.
* Must have a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Must have functional knowledge of Google suite applications.
* Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers/clients.
* Complete a sometimes heavy workload within established time frames.
* Responsible for managing/securing consumables per project, and restocking van equipment.
* Ability to demonstrate organizing and implementation skills.
* Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
* Flexibility to work outside the job description or fill in when needed in other roles.
* Analytical and problem-solving, troubleshooting abilities, and deductive reasoning skills.
* Must be a self-starter with keen attention to detail.
* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
* Must pass background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment screenings.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
* Be able to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools and materials and loading and unloading equipment weighing a minimum of 75 pounds.
* Perform repetitive work according to set procedures.
* Must be able to work long hours on construction sites, bending down, standing on ladders, operating hand tools, carrying heavy loads, climbing ladders, scaffolding, operating lifts, etc.
* Sitting, standing, stooping, and bending for long/extended periods of time.
* Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other office equipment.
* Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds).
* Must possess a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and operate a motor vehicle.

Pay: $18\.00 - $22\.00 per hour
