The Financial Associate Intern will assist the various sections of the Administration and Finance team with analyzing data, preparing financial reports, and learning about varied financial activities and business practices in a multi-faceted business environment to manage the corporate financial functions of a business enterprise involved in commercial and general aviation airports, container ports, cruise ships, and real estate business activities. The intern will perform interesting assignments across a wide spectrum of finance, accounting, and business activities within the department.
**ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Responsible for financial analysis and quality control. Reconciles various subsystems and ledgers to both internal and external data. Performs reviews and analyses of accounts.
* Monitors Authority-wide monthly operating revenues and expenses by unit, conducts data analysis to document variances, performs research on industry and operational (Aviation, Maritime) metrics and administrative budget practices, and maintains and creates Hyperion budget reports.
* Perform appropriate financial monitoring of the Capital Program including capital budgeting, financial coding used in the Hyperion Capital Planning system and sources of funding. Assists with financial issues \& trade-offs through the use of sophisticated financial and economic analytical tools.
* Monitor investment portfolio and administration of the fixed income investment management system database; monitor cash balances on a daily basis to comply with the Trust and Custodial Agreements. Performs debt issuance and administration responsibilities.
* Completes contract administration activities and support for the preparation, negotiation, and management of proposals and contracts, as well as the administration of the Central Services Purchase Card (P-Card) program.
* Assist with operations by effective management of Administration and Records Management. Assists with the compliance monitoring of all A\&F administrative policies to improve departmental efficiency.
* Completes special projects as assigned.
**EDUCATION**
* Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Management.
**EXPERIENCE**
* One to two years of business experience in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is preferable.
* Experience with automated/on line accounting systems.(PeopleSoft preferred)
* Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of MS Office (documents, presentation software, spreadsheets and database applications). Tableau, Hyperion also a plus.
* Ability to learn new tasks with minimal supervision.
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
**WORK SCHEDULE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
* This position is based at our Logan Office Center.
* Ability to work a 37\.5-hour work week.
* Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
* Ability to pass Massport’s pre-employment-controlled substance test and background checks.
