We are exhilarated about our role in shaping and sharing Calgary’s story as the Blue Sky City. **Job Summary** The IT Intern serves as the primary on-site contact for technical support, resolving hardware and software challenges that require a hands-on presence. This role balances day-to-day IT operations such as asset management and vendor collaboration with strategic projects including SharePoint optimization, process automation, and the end-user awareness reinforcement of CED’s information security protocols. This is a 12-week Term. **Tasks \& Responsibilities** * Provide deskside support for hardware, software (Office 365, SharePoint, Entra ID), networking (Wi-Fi/LAN), printers, and boardroom A/V technologies. * Facilitate staff onboarding and offboarding processes, including the setup of hardware and verifying user account creations. * Maintain a comprehensive inventory of IT resources, including hardware assets, software licenses, and assist in tracking IT-related program costs. * Coordinate with external MSPs and vendors to resolve system and application issues. * Create intuitive user guides and training materials to empower staff in using internal systems. * Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and system configuration documentations for the IT team. * Identify and implement opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and optimize existing workflows. * Assist in the execution of ongoing and new IT projects. **Your Growth Journey** The IT Intern will gain hands-on experience in IT operations, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing assets and licenses, and supporting onboarding/offboarding processes. You will learn to create user guides, maintain documentation, apply cybersecurity best practices, and gain an understanding of how IT integrates with broader organizational goals. Additionally, you will assist with IT projects and explore automation tools, building technical, organizational, and communication skills essential for a career in IT. **Supervision Plan** The IT Intern will report to and work day-to-day under the guidance of the IT Specialist, who will provide clear performance expectations and deliverables for the term. Progress will be reviewed in regular check-ins, with formal evaluations at the midpoint and end of the internship. **Team Mentoring** The IT Intern will work closely with the IT team, that will provide mentorship, training, and guidance on deliverables and projects. The IT Manager \& IT Specialist will jointly train and mentor the intern. In addition, the intern will also collaborate with the Operations, People \& Culture department, and other CED staff to gain input and support, ensuring high-quality work that delivers value to the organization and its stakeholders. **Field of Study** Post-secondary education in technology (degree, diploma or certificate) or a relevant field. Assets / Nice to have but not required: * Interest or experience in Cybersecurity * Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (InTune) * Exposure to No-Code/Low Code automations or AI/LLM tools * Proficiency in MacOS support **Key Skills \& Competencies** * Demonstrated superior technical background in various hardware and software systems. * Customer service skills are an asset for interacting with end-users in a professional and courteous manner. Articulate complex technical information in a clear, user-friendly manner for diverse audiences. * Strong problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of technical issues and develop effective solutions to resolve them. * Able to work collaboratively with other team members and external IT MSP to resolve technical issues. * Initiative: Proactively address issues, seek improvements, and act as an emergency contact for IT-related concerns. * Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements, task automation, and efficiency enhancements. **Canada Summer Job Eligibility** * Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment. * Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, * Youth hired for a Canada Summer Job cannot displace or replace existing employees or volunteers, employees that have been laid-off and are awaiting recall, employees on vacation, employees on maternity or parental leave. * Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. * International students are not eligible participants.
