If shaping the future of connectivity excites you, you’ll fit right in. **Why You’ll Love This Role** Work with expert optical designers, contributing to industry-leading WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) and OCS (Optical Circuit Switch) products, widely used in fiber optic transmission networks and AI datacenters. **What You’ll Be Doing** * Lab testing of a new MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) mirror array. * Create an automated macro to convert Zemax OpticStudio design files from Sequential Mode to Non-Sequential Mode. Zemax OpticStudio includes tools for doing this conversion, but the built-in tools produce many errors for the complex 3D optical designs used by Lumentum. We have identified what we believe will be a robust method for converting design files, but we need a skilled programmer with good 3D spatial analysis capabilities to implement the method. * Other tasks related to Optical Design that may arise. * Preference for 8 or 12 month term. **What We’re Looking For** **Education:** Applicants should be in a degree program in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. At least one completed course in Optics would be an asset. **Experience:** Computer programming experience, either in course work or extra-curricular activities.
