We are dedicated to transforming e-commerce by addressing fragmentation and creating a unified, efficient experience. **Role Description** This is an in-office internship for a PostgreSQL Performance Engineer. We’re looking for someone who wants to become elite at operating and optimizing PostgreSQL in real production environments. The intern will be responsible for analyzing PostgreSQL performance, conducting load and performance tests, and optimizing database systems for efficiency. Daily tasks will include performance tuning, identifying bottlenecks, and supporting software development efforts to enhance database capabilities. **Qualifications** * Experience with Performance Analysis, including diagnostics and optimization * Knowledge of Load Testing and Performance Testing methodologies * Proficiency in Performance Engineering techniques * Familiarity with Software Development practices and workflows * Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently * Strong understanding of PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems * Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field * Experience with query optimization tools is a plus **This is not a basic CRUD/database admin role.** **What you will work on:** * Optimize slow PostgreSQL queries * Analyze query plans using EXPLAIN ANALYZE * Improve indexing strategies * Monitor database performance * Help manage replication and failover systems * infrastructure automation * Configure and tune PgBouncer * Work with large transactional datasets * scaling PostgreSQL * Assist with backup and recovery systems * Help scale multi-tenant PostgreSQL infrastructure * Support backend engineers on database performance **Required**: * Good SQL knowledge * Basic PostgreSQL understanding * Comfortable using Linux * Understanding of indexes and joins * Familiarity with APIs/backend systems * Strong problem-solving mindset * Curiosity about how databases work internally **A big plus, if have understanding of/experience with:** * PostgreSQL * PgBouncer * Redis * Docker * Python/Django * replication * partitioning * monitoring tools * MVCC * WAL * vacuum/autovacuum * query planning * locks \& deadlocks * replication lag * connection pooling You do NOT need to be an expert yet.
