Summer Engineering Intern
Role Description
**About Odin Dynamics**
-----------------------
Founded in 2025, Odin Dynamics is a defense technology company building autonomous underwater vehicles that will define the next era of undersea warfare. We are focused on delivering capable, resilient autonomous systems that strengthen the strategic advantage of the United States and its allied navies. We move fast, build real hardware, and operate with the urgency that the mission demands.
**About the Role**
------------------
We're looking for engineering interns across multiple disciplines to join us for the summer. This isn't a shadow-and-observe internship — you'll be embedded on a small team working on real vehicle systems, writing real code, designing real hardware, and seeing the results of your work in the lab or in the water.
We're hiring across four tracks:
**Software Engineering** — Contribute to our autonomy stack, build internal tools, or work on embedded systems that run on vehicle hardware.
**Electrical Engineering** — Support board design, power systems, sensor integration, or harness and interconnect development.
**Mechanical Engineering** — Work on structural design, mechanisms, manufacturing support, or vehicle integration and test.
**Hardware Engineering** — Bridge across electrical and mechanical disciplines, supporting system-level integration, prototyping, and hands-on build and test.
You'll be matched to a track and project based on your skills and interests, but the walls between disciplines are thin here — expect to learn and contribute across boundaries.
**What You'll Do**
------------------
* Own a meaningful project scoped for the summer with real deliverables that contribute to the vehicle program.
* Work alongside full-time engineers in your discipline on day-to-day design, build, and test activities.
* Participate in design reviews, team standups, and engineering discussions.
* Get hands-on with hardware — whether that's assembling boards, machining parts, running tests, or deploying systems in the water.
* Present your work and results to the engineering team at the end of the summer.
**What We're Looking For**
--------------------------
* Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
* Genuine interest in building physical systems that operate in the real world — robots, vehicles, hardware, not just software on a screen.
* Foundational skills relevant to your track — whether that's CAD and fabrication, circuit design and soldering, embedded programming, or full-stack development.
* A bias toward action — you build things, break things, and figure things out.
* Comfort working in a fast-paced, small-team environment where you'll be trusted with real responsibility.
* U.S. Citizenship.
**Nice to Have**
----------------
* Personal or academic projects in robotics, autonomous systems, or marine/aerospace engineering.
* Experience with hands-on prototyping, shop tools, or lab equipment.
* Prior internship or co-op experience in defense, aerospace, or hardware-focused companies.
* Familiarity with version control, embedded systems, or CAD/CAE tools.
**Why Join Us**
---------------
Most internships have you working on a side project that never ships. Here, you'll work on systems that go in the ocean and serve the U.S. Navy and our allied partners. If you want a summer where you learn fast, build real things, and contribute to the hardest engineering problems in defense — this is it.
