M+ Internship Programme 2026/27 – Collection and Exhibition (Design)

M\+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century. The M\+ Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for those who are interested in developing a career in the museum field. You will work closely with the M\+ team full time for a period of one year, gaining both practical and theoretical training. This intake will take place from **September****202****6****to August 202****7**. The Exhibition Design Internship offers training for those interested in gaining experience of working in design within a museum setting. The interns will gain an understanding of how design can shape the environment of the museum and the ways in which visitors experience. Mentored by one of our designers, interns will work with the Design team in conceiving, developing, executing design projects for a range of exhibitions and museum departments, and contributing to the design of exhibitions. You will be able to: * learn about M\+ and its collections; * learn about exhibition design including how visitors experience objects and spaces, and how design can shape, influence and inform these experiences; * work with exhibition and graphic designers on a variety of exhibitions; * work within the Design team and in close collaboration with other exhibition project parties to design exhibitions including spatial planning, exhibition architecture, exhibition graphic, wayfinding; and * perform any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by M\+. You need to: * possess a recognised university degree ideally in relevant fields such as communication design, architecture, interior design, product design, museum studies or equivalent; * have strong interest in working professionally in the design field; * be a good team player, a good communicator and a highly organised person * proficiency with required desktop design tools, such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office, and other related software with demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio; * possess some relevant working experience is preferred but not required; and * have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin).
