Mobile Software intern

Role Description

**Mobile Software Intern — Technology Team** **MHC (HMI Managed Healthcare) \| Full-time \| 3 months** **Reports to: Head of Digital Products** **What you'll be doing** MHC is in the middle of building out the next generation of our member-facing and partner-facing platforms — and we need hands who can ship. As our Mobile Software Intern, you'll be embedded in the digital products team working on real projects: integrations, AI features, and mobile experiences that actual members and corporate clients will use. This is not a "watch and observe" internship. You'll be writing code, testing builds, and contributing to live development sprints from week one. **Day to day, you'll be:** * Contributing to mobile app development using React Native, building and refining features across our member-facing applications * Supporting backend API development and integration work using Node.js * Assisting with the build and testing of AI-powered features, including WhatsApp-based member engagement, claims automation, and conversational interfaces * Participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and code reviews alongside the core digital products team * Writing clean, documented code and flagging issues early rather than late * Helping test and validate integrations with third-party platforms and partner APIs **Who we're looking for** * Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field * Comfortable working in React Native — you don't need to be an expert, but you should have built something with it * Familiar with Node.js for backend or API work * Some exposure to AI/ML concepts or tools — whether through coursework, personal projects, or hackathons. Bonus if you've worked with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) * Someone who reads error messages before asking for help, and asks for help before spending three days stuck * Comfortable working in an agile team environment and picking up context quickly **What you'll walk away with** You'll have shipped real features in a production-grade healthcare technology environment — not toy projects. You'll understand how AI is actually being deployed in enterprise SaaS, how mobile apps integrate with complex backend systems, and what it looks like to build software that genuinely affects how people access healthcare. For anyone serious about a career in mobile or AI development, this is the kind of hands-on experience that stands out on a portfolio.
