Junior Backend & Machine Learning Developer

**About Us** We are Tundra Ventures, an early-stage startup building Tundra SmartHost, a privacy-first property monitoring solution for short-term rentals, boutique hotels, and student housing. We combine custom IoT hardware with mobile and web software to deliver real-time alerts and insights without using cameras. We are looking for a Junior Backend \& Machine Learning Developer who is eager to learn, works hard, and wants to grow with the product and the team. Attitude and curiosity matter more to us than ticking every box. **What You Will Work On** * Building backend services and APIs using Node.js * Designing systems that process real-time IoT sensor data * Developing event detection and anomaly detection algorithms * Working with machine learning models to identify events such as overcrowding, smoking, noise disturbances, and property risks * Integrating AI and data-driven insights into our platform * Collaborating with hardware, product, and software teams **What You Should Already Know** * JavaScript and Node.js * Basic understanding of databases and APIs * Python for data processing or machine learning tasks * Basic machine learning concepts and data analysis * Git and basic development workflows **Bonus But Not Required** * Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch * Knowledge of IoT systems or sensor data processing * Experience with cloud platforms and backend deployments * Understanding of real-time data pipelines **Why Join** * Early-stage startup with a real product and users * Opportunity to work on AI, machine learning, and IoT technologies * Hands-on experience building production systems from the ground up * Growth opportunities as the company scales * Stock options or equity potential for committed team members
