Backend Engineer Intern

The platform serves as a comprehensive resource for wedding planning, offering inspiration, vendor discovery, and seamless payment solutions. **Position Summary** The Backend Engineer Intern will support the modernization of our core backend systems while gaining hands-on experience in real-world production environments. A key challenge in this role is migrating a legacy Laravel-based backend into Python, requiring strong problem-solving skills, careful analysis of existing business logic, and attention to performance and reliability. Beyond migration, the intern will handle general engineering tasks such as API development, debugging, testing, and documentation. In the first six months, this role will have a direct impact by accelerating the migration process, improving code quality, and strengthening the maintainability of our backend platform. **Key Responsibilities** * Assist in migrating a legacy Laravel backend application to Python * Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations * Refactor existing code to improve performance, readability, and scalability * Write unit tests and support basic QA and debugging activities * Collaborate with senior engineers on system design and implementation * Maintain technical documentation and migration notes * Support day-to-day backend engineering tasks and issue resolution * Participate in code reviews and team discussions **Qualifications** * Basic understanding of backend development and RESTful APIs * Familiarity with Python and Flask framework * Exposure to PHP/Laravel is a strong plus * Understanding of databases (SQL) and basic data modeling * Familiarity with Git and version control workflows * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment **Working with Us** At Bridestory, our team is collaborative, curious, and driven by impact.
