Junior Software Engineer

**Backend Software Engineer \| Adelaide, SA - Hybrid \| Java / Go / Rust / C\+\+** I'm looking for a junior backend engineer who's super keen to get into production-grade systems work early in their career, joining a small and technically serious team based in Adelaide. This company builds analytics and operational platforms deployed across some of Australia's most demanding industries. The software runs on real infrastructure, for real clients, in environments where reliability is not optional. You'll be writing backend services that process industrial data at scale, sitting alongside senior engineers who care about how code is built, not just that it ships. **Backend Engineer Responsibilities** -Design and build backend services and data processing pipelines that support operational platforms across safety-critical industries. -Write performant, concurrent code with an emphasis on correctness and maintainability. -Contribute to API design across REST and gRPC interfaces. -Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, message-driven systems like Kafka or Redpanda, and CI/CD pipelines. -Participate in code reviews, testing, and the kind of engineering documentation that actually gets read. **Backend Engineer Requirements** -A STEM degree with a meaningful computer science or software engineering component. -Some commercial backend development experience, even if limited. -Strong fundamentals in concurrent and asynchronous programming. -Familiarity with message queues and stream processing. -Go or Rust is ideal. C\+\+ or Java is accepted if your fundamentals are strong. -Exposure to containerisation, observability tooling, or secure development practices in regulated environments is a bonus, not a blocker.
