Our mission is to drive sustainability and efficiency by leveraging cutting-edge technology to optimize recycling processes and reduce environmental impact. **Position:**  Edge Systems Engineering Intern **Location:**  Zurich, Switzerland **Job Type:**  6-months full-time **Deadline to Apply:** July 15th, 2026\. **Overview:**  We are seeking talented engineering interns to join our team and to actively contribute to the development of innovative solutions for recycling analytics. The ideal candidate will be highly-motivated, eager to work on an industrial-edge-ai with environmental impact, capable of working autonomously and in small teams, and have a strong desire to solve exciting and challenging applied problems. You will be working with the UpCircle™ *Station* , our industrial-AI edge system, live inside recycling plants, running 24/7 in environments with dust, vibration, and intermittent connectivity. We're looking for an intern to help us harden and scale the UpCircle™ *Station*  fleet: better reliability, better remote operability, sharper sensor fusion. **Responsibilities:** * Improve the Station firmware and edge stack (Linux \+ containers) running in production plants. * Build health monitoring, telemetry, and alerting for the device fleet. * Help design and operate OTA updates for firmware, containers, and ML models. * Work on camera pipelines, including calibration, optimization, and processing tasks. * Integrate solution with existing cloud infrastructure (CI/CD). * Make explicit edge vs. cloud trade-offs (latency, bandwidth, model size, cost). * Travel occasionally to client sites for installations and field debugging. **Requirements \& Qualifications:** * Currently pursuing a Master's (or graduated within the last year) in robotics, embedded systems, CS, EE, or related field. * Strong Python skills and solid Linux fundamentals. * Hands-on experience with Dockerized systems. * Understanding of edge-AI trade-offs and on-device inference. **Nice to have** * Experience with NVIDIA Jetson development, industrial cameras, OTA / fleet management tools, Prometheus/Grafana/MQTT * Experience with multi-object tracking or visual depth estimation, networking in constrained environments. * Prior experience building on ROS2 and networking fundamentals. * Reliability-first mindset you assume things will fail in the field and instrument accordingly. **What you get** * Coaching \& tight feedback loops * Real ownership over what you build * Work that has a real-world impact * Experience working hand-in-hand with AI experts UpCircle is an equal opportunity employer.
