BlueHeart Energy
Western Europe
Automation Engineer Intern
Role Description
**About BlueHeart Energy**
BlueHeart Energy was founded in 2016 as a deep-tech company that has developed a new sustainable thermoacoustics technology to radically improve the performance of heat pumps, enabling them to evolve from being the best solution in the market to becoming the perfect solution. Our technology is a disruptive approach to generate heat and cold, with potential to revolutionize the whole industry.
With our so-called Blue Heart' inside, heat pumps turn into affordable, silent and flexible devices, capable of working with wide temperature ranges suitable for both new and existing houses. Importantly, BlueHeart doesn’t require any refrigerants and doesn’t generate any CO2e emissions.
**The Internship**
Join our Testing Team and help us automate our laboratories and test benches. Many of our testing activities are still performed manually, from operating valves to running test sequences and collecting data. In this role, you will support the development of automation solutions that improve efficiency, repeatability, and reliability.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on engineering student who enjoys programming, electronics, controls, and solving practical challenges in a laboratory environment.
**What You'll Do**
* Identify manual testing activities that can be automated
* Develop and implement automation solutions for test benches
* Support integration of sensors, actuators, valves, and control systems
* Create scripts, dashboards, or simple software tools for laboratory operations
* Test, troubleshoot, and validate automation solutions
* Document automation projects and support continuous improvement initiatives
* Work closely with the Testing, Controls, Engineering, and R\&D teams
**What We're Looking For**
* Currently studying Automation Engineering
* Passion for automation, technology, and problem-solving
* Hands-on mindset with willingness to learn
* Basic programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C\+\+, or similar)
* Interest in controls, instrumentation, and embedded systems
* Comfortable working independently and within a team
* Good English skills (spoken and written)
**What We Offer**
* Internship allowance and travel allowance
* A friendly, international work environment
* Training and mentorship from experienced engineers
* Exposure to cutting-edge heat pump technology
* Access to mental health support via OpenUp
* Opportunity to make a real impact by helping build the future of our automated testing laboratories
* Be part of a scale-up making a real impact on sustainability. Learn more about our mission here.
