OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. Within OMB, the Policy and Operations Research Task Force is primarily responsible for analyzing fiscal and economic implications of the City’s policy initiatives and evaluating City agencies’ operations and programs, as well as conducting ad-hoc quantitative analysis. JOB DESCRIPTION: The intern will assist the unit on its work related to homelessness, housing, health, and education. As a first project, the intern will review the Family Options Study done by HUD, which studied the impact of various housing and services interventions for homeless families. The intern will analyze the study's data and methodology and compare the findings of that study to the Social Services Unit's research on homelessness prevention. The goal is to develop a more comprehensive understanding of cost and impact of homeless prevention services. The intern may also assist the unit with other projects as they arise. QUALIFICATIONS: * Quantitative data analysis * Experience with data cleaning and management * Experience with statistical software (R, Stata, Python) * Ability to interpret and communicate empirical findings clearly (written and verbal) REQUIREMENTS: A cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Compensation/Duration: Summer Graduate Intern $20 per hour Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026\. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
