Intern, Building Technology Systems

The Building Technology Systems Design Intern will support the design and engineering of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Electronic Security Systems (ESS), Audiovisual (AV), and Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, educational, and mixed-use developments. The intern will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams and gain practical experience in engineering design, BIM coordination, technical documentation, specifications, and construction support services throughout various project stages from concept design to construction administration. **ICT Systems** * Assist in the design and documentation of: + Structured Cabling Systems (Copper \& Fiber) + Telecommunications Rooms (TER/TR) + Data Centers and Server Rooms + LAN/WAN Infrastructure + Wireless Networks (Wi-Fi) + IP Telephony Systems * Prepare ICT layouts, riser diagrams, rack elevations, and equipment schedules. * Support cable pathway planning including conduits, cable trays, trunking, and containment systems. **Electronic Security Systems** * Assist in the design of: + CCTV Surveillance Systems + Access Control Systems + Intrusion Detection Systems + Intercom Systems + Visitor Management Systems + Security Management Systems * Prepare security device layouts, schematics, and equipment schedules. * Support coverage studies and device placement coordination. **Audiovisual Systems** * Assist in the design of: + Meeting Room AV Systems + Boardroom AV Solutions + Conference and Training Facilities + Digital Signage Systems + Public Address Systems + Background Music Systems * Support preparation of single-line diagrams, signal flow diagrams, and equipment lists. **Building Automation Systems** * Assist in the development of: + Building Management Systems (BMS) + Smart Building Solutions + IoT Integration Infrastructure + System Integration Architecture * Support preparation of network architecture and integration drawings. **BIM and Design Documentation** * Assist in developing engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. * Support BIM model development and multidisciplinary coordination. * Participate in clash detection reviews and model validation exercises. * Prepare technical reports, presentations, schedules, and engineering documentation. * Assist in maintaining drawing registers and document control procedures. **Education** Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in: * Electronics \& Communication Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Telecommunications Engineering * Computer Engineering * Information Technology * Building Services Engineering * Related Engineering Discipline **Technical Skills** **Preferred Knowledge** * Structured Cabling Systems * Computer Networks and Telecommunications * ELV and Security Systems * Audiovisual Technologies * Building Management Systems * Smart Building Technologies * BIM and Digital Engineering Concepts **Software Skills** * AutoCAD * Revit (Preferred) * Microsoft Office Suite * Bluebeam or PDF Markup Tools (Preferred) **Professional Competencies** * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Excellent attention to detail. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. * Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. **Learning Opportunities** During the internship, the candidate will gain exposure to: * ICT Infrastructure Design * Security Systems Design * Audiovisual Systems Engineering * Building Management Systems * Smart Building Technologies * BIM Coordination and Revit Modelling * Design Documentation and Specifications * Industry Standards and Best Practices including BICSI, TIA, ISO/IEC, IEC, NFPA and local authority requirements. **Career Path** * Successful candidates may be considered for future positions as Graduate Engineer based on the performance and availability at the end of internship period. **Note:** This internship is intended to provide hands-on exposure to the design and delivery of technology systems within the built environment, while developing the technical, coordination, and professional skills required for a career in engineering consultancy. **BGV:** * Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. * Candidates are advised to ensure that all information provided during the recruitment process — including documents uploaded — is accurate and complete, both to WSP India and its BGV partner”.
