Software Testing & Quality Engineering Intern

**Role Summary** This internship is designed to groom the candidate for a Software Tester / Quality Engineer role by providing hands-on experience in functional testing, API testing, regression testing, test automation fundamentals, defect management, and quality documentation. The intern will work closely with QA Engineers, Developers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts to validate application functionality, identify defects, support release readiness, and ensure a high-quality user experience. The role includes exposure to modern quality engineering practices such as AI-assisted testing, Agile development methodologies, API validation, and test automation frameworks. These skills are increasingly sought by organizations as QA evolves from manual testing into a broader quality engineering function. In addition to testing activities, the intern will contribute to creating and maintaining test cases, UAT guides, release validation reports, QA knowledge articles, and product documentation. Over time, the intern will gradually take ownership of test execution, defect reporting, documentation maintenance, and quality reporting activities, preparing for a full-time Software Tester or Quality Engineer role. **Key Result Areas (KRAs)** **Learning \& Full-Time Readiness (25%)** · Complete training on product functionality, QA processes, Agile methodologies, and testing tools within the first 45 days. · Demonstrate proficiency in functional, regression, integration, and API testing. · Develop basic understanding of automation testing frameworks and AI-assisted testing tools. · Successfully shadow QA Engineers during feature development and release cycles. · Build readiness for transition into a full-time Software Tester or Quality Engineer role. **Test Execution \& Quality Validation (30%)** · Execute assigned test cases and test scenarios according to release schedules. · Validate application functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria. · Participate in regression, integration, and user acceptance testing activities. · Ensure complete and accurate documentation of test execution results. · Support release readiness validation with minimal supervision. **Defect Management \& Troubleshooting Support (25%)** · Identify, document, and track software defects using approved defect management tools. · Create high-quality bug reports with screenshots, logs, recordings, and reproduction steps. · Validate defect fixes and perform retesting prior to release. · Assist development teams in reproducing and investigating reported issues. · Support root-cause analysis through detailed testing observations. **Testing Documentation \& Knowledge Management (20%)** · Maintain test cases, test scripts, test data, and execution reports. · Create UAT guides and release validation documentation. · Assist in updating product knowledge repositories and QA documentation. · Document known issues, workarounds, and testing best practices. · Ensure all testing documentation remains current and aligned with product updates. **Required Profile \& Skills** **Education** * Final-year student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. **Technical Skills** · Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). · Knowledge of Functional, Regression, Integration, and User Acceptance Testing. · Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and API testing concepts. · Familiarity with Postman, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools. · Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and testing. · Exposure to Selenium, Playwright, or other automation tools is a strong advantage. · Interest in AI-assisted testing and modern quality engineering practices. AI-driven testing and automation skills are becoming increasingly valuable in QA roles. **Documentation \& Communication** · Strong written communication skills. · Ability to create structured test cases, bug reports, release notes, and UAT documentation. · Ability to translate testing results into clear and actionable reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders. **Mindset** · Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality. · Analytical and problem-solving mindset. · Curious, coachable, and eager to learn emerging QA technologies. · Strong ownership and accountability. · Passionate about building a career in Software Testing, Quality Engineering, and Product Quality.
