Company Profile
AutoveX is a tech-enabled company specializes in providing end-to-end robotic solutions, focusing on autonomous vehicles(AV), indoor service robots, and AI-driven software platform technology integration to cater to diverse industry needs, such as delivery, concierge, cleaning and AI surveillance. We aims to automate the operational task by robots, thereby reducing the need for human intervention. Our robotic solution focus on maximising the potential of robots, in order to improves overall efficiency, and enhances scalability in business operations.
Job Description
We are looking for a Forward Deployment Engineer Intern who wants to own the messy reality of getting robots working in live buildings, not just write code at a desk. You will be the person who takes our platform from the repo to the field: setting up software on edge devices, integrating with the building's lifts, doors, and alarm systems, wiring up the robots, debugging whatever breaks on site, and talking directly to clients and their facilities or IT teams. You will write real backend and frontend code, but your success is measured by whether the deployment runs reliably in the customer's building, not by lines shipped. This role suits someone who is technically strong, comfortable with ambiguity, and energized by being on the ground where software meets the physical world.
Roles \& Responsibilities
* Own deployments end to end. Take a site from kickoff to a working, reliable system. Set up and configure software and lightweight servers on edge hardware (Raspberry Pi, NUC or industrial PCs, robot onboard computers), and keep them healthy in production.
* Integrate with the real world. Connect our platform to building infrastructure and third party systems: lifts, doors, fire alarm systems, messaging services, and partner APIs. Make different systems that were never designed to talk to each other and communicate cleanly.
* Build the software you deploy. Write backend services in Python (FastAPI) and real time dashboards in React when the deployment needs them. Extend or adapt the platform to fit what a specific site actually requires.
* Debug across the whole stack. When something fails on site, isolate whether it is the hardware, the on device software, the network, or the platform. Read device logs, inspect network behavior, and trace the problem to its source under real conditions.
* Be the technical face to the client. Explain what is happening to facilities managers, IT teams, and non software stakeholders. Translate their constraints into technical decisions and back again.
* Feed the field back into the product. Turn recurring on site pain into improvements: better tooling, better defaults, better docs, so the next deployment is easier.
Requirements
* Engineering foundation. Solid Python, working knowledge of JavaScript and React, and a real understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL). You can build and ship a full stack feature on your own.
* Hands on with hardware and Linux. Comfortable on the Linux command line: configuring services (systemd), reading logs (journalctl), managing processes and networking. Bonus if you have set up software or servers on single board computers or microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, or similar).
* Networking literacy. IP addressing, ports, firewalls, SSH, and the ability to diagnose connectivity problems on a real network you do not control.
* Protocols. Familiarity with REST and Server Sent Events, plus real time transports such as WebSockets and/or MQTT. Exposure to device level interfaces (serial, GPIO) is a plus.
* Tooling. Git, Docker, and a basic grasp of CI/CD.
* The forward deployed mindset. This is the part that matters most. You are resourceful under pressure, comfortable when the problem is not clearly defined, willing to go on site and get your hands dirty, and able to stay calm and clear when a client is watching a robot misbehave. You communicate well, you take ownership, and you would rather fix the real problem than file a ticket about it.
