Algorithm Engineer - Intern
Role Description
**Sanctity AI**
is an Amsterdam based, bootstrapped startup led by an IIT alum. We're building core intelligence systems for a world where trust, expertise, and decision quality matter more than noise. Small team. Fast loops. Real ownership.
We’re looking for an
**Algorithm Engineer**
to help build the systems that decide what expertise gets surfaced, to whom, when, and why. Ranking, matching, routing, scoring, and optimization sit at the core of what we’re building. This is a high-ownership role, but not a solo mission. You’ll build closely with the team and under the founder’s guidance.
**What you’ll work on**
1. Design ranking, matching, routing, and optimization systems
2. Build decision and data pipelines across backend, ML, and infra
3. Turn messy real-world signals into clean scoring and relevance logic
4. Integrate ML/AI models into production workflows
5. Improve latency, accuracy, scalability, and cost on core paths
6. Onboard fast, iterate in short cycles, and help unblock critical technical work
**What you should bring**
1. Strong in at least one primary language -
Python, C\+\+, or Java
2. Strong mathematics, analytical reasoning, and DSA foundations
3. Experience with graph algorithms, optimization, and system design
4. Prior work on complex systems where algorithmic choices materially mattered
5. Experience with backend systems, APIs, async flows, PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
6. Hands-on exposure to ML pipelines, inference, embeddings, LLMs, and scoring systems
7. Clean, testable, scalable engineering habits with Git, Docker, and basic DevOps awareness
**Why Sanctity**
1. Work on proprietary algorithms with real-world signals and feedback loops
2. Build early with a small, sharp team and direct founder involvement
3. Shape a foundational system in a company with serious category ambition
**Qualifications**
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent demonstrated depth.
