Role Description

**Are you a BEng Student at a New Zealand University, studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Science or Data Science? Join us in Wellington for the summer, and enjoy real work, hands on learning, and encouraging colleagues!** Our core purpose is to empower New Zealand’s energy future, a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable, secure electricity system. The Information Services and Technology (IST) division at Transpower, delivers the infrastructure and applications that connect with the grid, enable system and grid operations, and run our corporate systems and processes. This includes our private telco network, TransGo. Data and Analytics teams use data to help make smarter decisions about New Zealand’s national electricity grid, including how we manage $5 billion of assets, critical infrastructure that keeps power flowing across the country. Our Summer interns gain the experience, skills, and behaviours that help them prepare for early career engineering and technology roles after their studies. **About the Summer Intern Programme** Based at our Waikoukou Head Office from mid-November to mid-February, you’ll join a cohort of around 30 summer interns paid the living wage. Contribute at the heart of the electricity sector while completing the industry work experience hours required to graduate! From day one, you’ll take on meaningful work and be guided by a collaborative, professional, and knowledgeable team. You’ll gain first hand insight into New Zealand’s only Grid Owner and System Operator, with a structured programme that helps you settle in quickly and build valuable relationships across the business. If you are joining us in Wellington from another region, previous interns have successfully arranged accommodation or stayed at Victoria University's student halls, a short walk from our office. Building positive relationships, learning on the job, and making a strong contribution over the course of the programme, will give you a real advantage if you choose to apply for associate roles after your studies.
