We are hiring a GIS Technician Intern this summer to operate a suite of GIS software and coordinate the data collection with the GPS Field Technicians. This internship will begin in May 2026, and run through the summer months.
**Main Responsibilities:**
* Create, manage, and edit as-built drawings using PDF editing software.
* Compile, update, and organize GIS data from maps, databases, and other sources.
* Collect data in the field using GPS equipment.
* Create and document metadata definitions and procedures.
* Responsible for the conversion, import, and export of data in and out of the GIS and GPS systems.
* Prepare and plan a variety of maps and drawings along with producing, maintaining, and updating graphical representation data.
* Manage and manipulate digital images for the purpose of electronic mapping.
* Code and digitize maps and feature data into a predefined GIS program.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
**Required Qualifications:**
* Working towards a degree in Geographic Information Sciences, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Engineering Technology, or similar.
* Experience with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software.
* Basic understanding of GIS methods, map design, data formatting, and map creation.
* Basic understanding of data collection methods.
* Good communication skills; both verbal and email.
* Above-average skill and knowledge of Excel as a data management tool.
* Valid driver’s license.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Knowledge of Trimble Business Center software.
* Willingness to occasionally work past normal office hours in order to meet deadlines and workload.
