Acorn currently has an outstanding opportunity for the best up-and-coming data science talent in the country to play a central role in building the UK’s largest specialist motor insurer.
We are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our existing team and primarily support the Telematics business. The successful candidate will take on a range of tasks related to Telematics and ensure the underlying models and processes which support the pricing of the product are best in class.
You will have the opportunity to own this and to iterate and improve across two different telematics brands – Carrot and MyPolicy.

37\.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This role sits within the Telematics Trading Team, which is a team of five, consisting of a Trading Lead, Pricing Analyst, two Data Analysts and a Data Scientist. The team formed in 2025 and is already driving a significant shift in how Telematics operates.
The role will also have close links to the well established Data Science team which consists of a number Data Scientists, delivering high value solutions for the business.
The team work in Databricks, own our own deployment solutions and are already able to iterate on live model deployments at speed. This infrastructure has allowed the team to add significant value over the last couple of years and have contributed significant increases in profitability to our largest products.
**What you will be doing:**
* Delivering solutions to business problems. Given substantial autonomy over the projects assigned
* Using python, executing most code as automated pipelines in Databricks, refresh models as often as we think is necessary and owning the process to deploy models into production
* Design, creation and execution of analytical solutions from telematics data
* Drive the technical analysis and development of scoring algorithms as well as driving value for the wider business
**What you will be doing:**
* Being part of a small team you will have input not just on the projects we execute, but how we take on our whole workflow, our tooling and the data direction of the company.
* A suitable candidate would have an excellent Python coding ability
* Natural desire to act at pace and be innovative, while setting high standards
* Expert in a variety of machine learning solutions
* Solid statistical understanding
