Role Description
**AI \& Software Development Intern**
As a member of Fitzrovia’s growing Technology team, the AI \& Software Development Intern will work closely with senior leadership to help build and deploy AI-powered tools and internal software that create real efficiencies across an $11B real estate portfolio.
This is a rare 0 → 1 opportunity: you will not be maintaining legacy systems or running test scripts in a silo. You will contribute to real tools used daily by investment, construction, property management, and asset management teams, helping build AI-powered workflows and applications that automate high-value processes from the ground up.
At Fitzrovia, we pride ourselves on being an entrepreneurial and innovative organization, which makes this role well suited for a candidate looking to roll up their sleeves, wear multiple hats and contribute to all aspects of real estate investment and development.
*As we are a highly collaborative team, the successful candidate will be required to work in-office full-time.*
*This position is being created to support anticipated growth. The salary for this position is $4,000 per month, based on skills and experience. Our total rewards program recognizes performance, supports well-being, and encourages growth by offering paid vacation and personal days, comprehensive benefits, wellness and mental health resources, and a generous professional development allowance.*
*Fitzrovia uses AI-enabled tools to assist in screening and assessing applications. Final hiring decisions are made by Fitzrovia’s hiring team.*
**Responsibilities:**
**AI Development \& Automation**
* Assist, design, build, and deploy LLM-powered internal tools using modern AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI API, Anthropic Claude API) to automate repetitive workflows across investment, construction, and property management teams.
* Support the development of multi-step AI pipelines for research, data extraction, document parsing, and report generation.
* Help build and maintain pipelines that enable AI tools to search and retrieve information from internal documents such as deal memos, PDF reports, and financial records.
* Prototype and iterate on AI features using prompt engineering techniques and API tool-use patterns.
**Full-Stack Software Development**
* Contribute to internally built software platforms by adding new features, dashboards, and automation capabilities.
* Assist with building front-end components using React and Tailwind CSS and assist with Python or Node.js backend development as needed.
* Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews to learn and maintain team standards.
* Help develop automated data pipelines to feed market intelligence into internal dashboards.
* Support with building and maintain workflow automations using tools such as n8n to connect internal systems, trigger AI processes, and reduce manual repetitive tasks across business teams.
* Support deployment of applications to cloud infrastructure and assist with maintaining reliable and performant services.
**Security, Compliance \& Data Governance**
* Learn and apply secure development practices when contributing to internal applications, including concepts such as authentication, authorization, input validation, and secrets management.
* Assist the team in implementing role-based access controls to help ensure sensitive financial and operational data is appropriately protected.
* Participate in code reviews and development discussions to build awareness of common security considerations such as API key protection and data privacy risks.
* Support the team in following responsible data handling practices when working with internal documents and AI tools.
* Assist with documenting internal processes, data flows, and development practices as new tools and systems are built.
* Help test and review applications during development and flag potential issues or concerns to senior team members.
**Research, Strategy \& Collaboration**
* Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape: evaluate new models, frameworks, and platforms for applicability to Fitzrovia’s use cases and present findings to the R\&D committee.
* Work cross-functionally with investment, construction, property management, and accounting teams to understand workflows and identify opportunities for automation.
* Assist in documenting internal AI guidelines and best practices as the team’s toolset grows.
* Participate in Fitzrovia’s R\&D innovation cycle, contributing ideas and proofs-of-concept to the quarterly pipeline review.
* Other duties as reasonably required by the business.
**Qualifications and Experiences:**
* Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
* Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications; proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python is strongly preferred.
* Some hands-on experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.); familiarity with prompt engineering is an asset and any exposure to RAG or agentic concepts is a bonus.
* Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
* Awareness of basic application security principles such as secrets management and secure coding practices.
* Comfortable using version control (Git/GitHub) and familiar with how web applications are deployed.
* Curiosity and problem-solving instincts; an ability to understand a business process and think about how technology could make it faster or smarter.
* Entrepreneurial attitude and eagerness to learn; comfortable taking initiative and working through ambiguity.
* Good communication skills and an ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical colleagues.
* Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, or Make is considered a strong asset.
* Prior exposure to real estate, PropTech, or financial services is considered an asset but is not required.
