Secure Robotics Intern
Role Description
Organization: Kaisura
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Duration: 3–6 months (Flexible)
Level: Undergraduate, Graduate Student Internship (Master’s or PhD preferred)
**Position Overview**
Kaisura is seeking a graduate-level Robotics AI Governance and Security Research Intern to support research and development related to AI-powered robotic systems, safety, privacy, security, and risk management.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in connecting robotics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and policy. The intern will help conduct research on AI-enabled robots, robotic operating systems, model vulnerabilities, and governance frameworks, while contributing to white papers, case studies, and security frameworks designed to help organizations secure AI-powered robots and autonomous systems, and protecting the integrity of the robotic components including AI, and mechanical operations.
The role will contribute directly to Kaisura’s mission of developing risk-based safety, privacy, security and governance solutions for AI-enabled robotics in healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and public sector environments.
**Key Responsibilities**
Robotics Security Research
* Conduct research on security risks and vulnerabilities in AI-powered robotic systems
* Analyze security risks in robot perception systems, navigation systems, and control algorithms
* Research emerging threats such as:
* Adversarial AI attacks on robotic perception
* Data poisoning of robot training datasets
* Model tampering in autonomous systems
* Supply chain risks in robotics software components
· Other Concerns: such as safety, uncontrolled outcomes, e.g., when a robot goes rogue, or disruptive, or doesn’t respond to human commands, deviates from acceptable behavior or routines?
**AI Governance and Policy Research**
* Research and analyze governance frameworks for AI-powered robots and autonomous systems
* Evaluate global AI regulations and robotics governance initiatives from organizations such as:
* National Institute of Standards and Technology
* International Organization for Standardization
* Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
* Contribute to the development of robot-specific AI governance frameworks
**Evaluate Attach Mechanisms/tools and how to protect against robot attacks.**
**White Papers \& Thought Leadership**
* Write robotics-focused white papers and research briefs
* Develop case studies on robotic AI failures, vulnerabilities, and attacks
* Support development of Kaisura’s robot AI security frameworks and methodologies
* Assist in preparing research reports for industry publications and conferences
**Technical Analysis Evaluate robotics software frameworks and architectures**
* Analyze robot AI pipelines, models, and training data dependencies
* Document attack surfaces in AI-powered robotic systems
* Mechanical parts
* Coordination with other robots
* Mitigations options
