Our sales team is trained across all of our products to give our customers insights into our entire portfolio. **AI Design Engineering Intern** MACOM is looking for an AI Design Engineering Intern who will play a critical role in the development of scalable and robust AI based RF design enablement solutions. You will work with RF design engineers to identify and execute design flow improvements using AI agents, agentic workflows, ML model development and fine tuning. You will have the opportunity to impact multiple parts of the design flow ranging from initial product definition, through design and layout, and through verification and tape out. You will deploy AI based tool integrations to solve bottlenecks, improve efficiency and productivity, and enable previously undiscovered opportunities. This role will combine a focus on AI/ML engineering with RF and microwave circuit design. We are looking for someone with a passion for solving real world problems using innovative AI solutions. This is an onsite position working out of MACOM’s office located in either Lowell, MA or Durham, NC. Come join MACOM and be a part of our next chapter of technology leadership and excellence. **Key responsibilities for this role include:** * Work with experienced MMIC Design Engineers to understand and define opportunities to accelerate and automate the design workflow using AI. * Develop and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows to reduce cycle time for RF circuit and MMIC design. * Develop and fine tune generative AI models to generate passive networks, including IC components, filters, and matching networks based on natural language specifications. * Develop AI models to execute design and layout optimization using ANN, GNN, and CNN based models. * Define data requirements for AI use in RF circuit design, including circuit topology, parametric performance, component definition, layout, and translate these into clean data formats for use with AI models. * Develop synthesized data training sets to support and enhance the training breadth and performance of AI models for circuit and layout generation. **What you will need to succeed:** * Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or Data Science at an accredited university. * Prior class and/or work experience with AI/ML model development, Agentic AI, or Generative AI. * Understanding of current best practices for AI model and agent development. * Understanding of scalability, cost, and performance optimization for AI workloads. * Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across software development, hardware and semiconductor engineering, operations and business teams. The Hourly Range for this position is $20– $50 per hour.
