Role Description
**Job Summary**
HelpAfterAccident.com (https://app.gomaxpain.com) is a lean tech STARTUP finishing a two-sided subscription model app for personal injury patients, lawyers and doctors (think Uber meets Zocdoc). We launch in 45 days. Lots of hard work has been completed. It’s \~90% built; we are one step away from launching. Interns are also welcome.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative UI/UX Product Designer who is Figma-first to lead the design of our flagship digital products as we prepare for a nationwide launch. In this role, you will craft engaging, user-centered interfaces and seamless experiences across web and mobile platforms. Your expertise will help shape the future of our digital presence, ensuring accessibility, usability, and aesthetic excellence. Join us to drive impactful design solutions that resonate with users and elevate our brand on a national scale! This is truly startup life. Long days and sacrifice to build and own something great. This is not for everyone or the average. Comp is cash-light \+ equity-heavy. We expect compensation to increase drastically within 60 days, funding round A completion or MVP launch, whichever occurs first. If you’re a “crazy” designer with taste, speed, and ruthless UX instincts, we want you.
You’ll learn the product in days, the existing design and then being to improve, audit key flows across both sides, tighten IA \+ microcopy, design/polish high-fidelity screens, and deliver dev-ready Figma (components, variants, Auto Layout, prototypes). You’ll partner daily with engineering for handoff, QA, and rapid iteration.
Must-haves: Figma mastery (shareable files, clean components), strong graphic design (typography, spacing, iconography), app dev familiarity (iOS/Android constraints, handoff), and a portfolio with real shipped work.
**Responsibilities**
* Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into compelling design concepts.
* Lead the end-to-end design process using Figma, creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity visual designs for web and mobile applications.
* Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights, validate design decisions, and iterate on solutions for optimal user experience.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive information architecture and interaction design patterns that ensure consistency across all digital touchpoints.
* Create detailed design specifications and collaborate with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
* Utilize data visualization techniques to present complex information clearly and effectively within product interfaces.
* Advocate for accessibility standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and best practices in responsive web design to reach diverse audiences across devices.
**Skills**
* Extensive experience with Figma as the primary design tool; proficiency in InVision, Adobe XD, Sketch, or Zeplin is a plus.
* Strong understanding of UI/UX principles including interaction design, visual design, layout design, information architecture, and usability testing.
* Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into intuitive digital experiences through wireframing, prototyping, and user flows.
* Knowledge of front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React, Angular), RESTful APIs, and responsive web design techniques.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes in product development cycles.
* Experience working on e-commerce platforms or digital products involving complex data visualization and analytics integration (Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics).
* Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret user research data and web analytics to inform design decisions.
* Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
* Knowledge of accessibility standards (Web Accessibility Initiative) and inclusive design practices for mobile devices and desktop environments. Join us as we craft innovative digital experiences that captivate users nationwide! Your creative vision combined with technical expertise will help shape products that are not only beautiful but also highly functional — making a real impact at scale!
Please send: portfolio link \+ 2 Figma links (one component set, one clickable flow)
With portfolio review, we will look for: clear problem framing, demonstrated craft, collaboration clarity, and outcomes/metrics—plus evidence of tool fluency.
* Shipped mobile app work (not only concept Dribbble-style screens) and states what because of the work (metrics, adoption, conversion, retention, support load, etc.).
* At least one case study shows **end-to-end thinking**: problem → constraints → iterations → tradeoffs → outcome (and what was learned).
* Be explicit about **your contribution vs. team contribution**.
