Architectural Design Intern
Role Description

With an in-house design department, we specialize in design-build projects.
As the Architectural Design Intern you will be involved with creating detailed drawings of buildings and may make models and sketches to test ideas while considering the clients’ needs, budgets, and regulations. You will work with clients, contractors, architectural team, and the management team to ensure the project meets quality standards and deadlines. This role will regularly communicate with the client, stakeholders, and other construction professionals to tackle any project challenges. This position will require you to have strong problem-solving and communication skills in order to successfully satisfy the client's needs.

**Key Responsibilities**
* Acquire a deep understanding of contract documents and project objectives.
* Develop technical specifications for projects per construction documents.
* Develop designs through architectural drawings, models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
* Assist in process of evaluating and interpreting building codes and compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and regulations, including coordination with jurisdictional agencies.
* Assist in developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
* Facilitate effective communication and coordination among internal and external stakeholders.
* Support project coordination and meetings with team members, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
* Support quality assurance and quality control efforts on projects
* Research and participate in the selection of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing and specifications.
* Use computer-aided design (Revit, CAD, or BIM) software and other technology tools to create plans/ sections/ details
* Ensure accurate and complete distribution of plans and specifications to subcontractors, flagging any discrepancies.
* Other duties as assigned.
**Qualification \& Experience**
* Must be either enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program or completed either an Associate’s Degree or certification courses in any of the following majors: Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
* Entry level or college graduate experience with document management
* Knowledge of the different phases of architectural/ structural/ civil design.
* Knowledge of building and planning codes.
* Excellent design, visualization, and graphic skills with the ability to graphically communicate design concepts.
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Collaborative team player with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines when necessary.
**Technical Skills**
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Revit or BIM 360 (preferably both)
* Proven experience with any of the following software systems: Revit, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or BIM 360
* Solid technical and design application knowledge
**Physical Requirements**
* Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
* Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform work on a computer
