ABOUT THE ROLE
This internship offers a balanced opportunity to gain hands on experience in both HR operational support and HR policy development, contributing to daily HR processes while assisting with the planning and implementation of policy revisions. The intern will collaborate with internal stakeholders, conduct research, analyze information, and help develop policy recommendations, gaining exposure to strategic initiatives and the policymaking process while also supporting the HR operations team with key day to day activities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**HR Support – 50%:**
* Provide administrative support to the HR Director and HR Business Partner team.
* Manage the HR inbox by triaging requests and responding to general employee inquiries.
* Draft employment-related letters (employment verification, contract extensions, compensation changes and other letters as required).
* Process Ivanti ticket submissions.
* Enter, update and validate data on the weekly HR dashboard.
* Process invoices and maintain ongoing budget tracking.
* Maintain contractor data, support onboarding and offboarding processes, and creation of personnel files.
* Support the full recruitment cycle by posting jobs, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, and completing onboarding documentation and personnel file setup.
* Assist in planning and coordinating internship related initiatives.
* Provide support on various ad hoc projects as assigned.
**Policy – 50%:**
* Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of policy projects.
* Support policy-related meetings, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination.
* Conduct thorough research on relevant policy issues, including legislative proposals, regulatory frameworks, and best practices.
* Draft and revise HR policies and procedures.
* Support policy-related meetings, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination.
* Collaborate with team members to brainstorm innovative policy solutions and strategies.
* Monitor legislative developments, government initiatives, and public consultations at the federal, provincial, and territorial levels.
* Conduct research and support initiatives on pension-related regulations.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE
* Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Human Resources, business administration or a related field.
* Previous experience in human resources or relevant internships is a plus.
* Curiosity and willingness to learn about HR operations, policy development, and research methodologies.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate key insights effectively.
* Excellent research abilities, including proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
* Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analysis tools/software is preferred.
