This role works across Network Planning and the Value Creation Office to analyze network performance, evaluate scheduling scenarios, and develop data-driven insights that improve reliability, utilization, and financial performance. The intern will help translate operational data into actionable analysis, support modeling and reporting efforts, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen planning processes and decision-making. This position offers hands-on exposure to how analytics informs real-world scheduling, fleet deployment, and operational strategy in a complex global airline. It also provides exposure to the portfolio operations environment of a private equity-backed company, where analytical insights are directly tied to value creation, operational discipline, and investor reporting. **Values and Behavioral Standards:** To ensure the effective communication and application of company values and behavioral standards, as stated in our company "Code of Conduct" policy, and to respond appropriately in the event of any known departure. **Major Job Accountabilities:** The intern will support the Network Planning team \& Value Creation Office in the following areas: * **Analyze and Monitor Network Performance** * Track and assess network delays, capacity utilization, and operating constraints to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reliability improvements. * Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for network operations and planning effectiveness. * **Modeling \& Optimization** * Build and maintain predictive models to assess scheduling scenarios and network performance under varying conditions. * Support the design, testing, and implementation of software optimization tools to enhance operational decision-making. * **Reporting \& Governance** * Produce recurring and ad hoc reports to monitor compliance with established network operating parameters. * Establish data-driven processes to govern scheduling rules, protect operational integrity, and ensure alignment with reliability targets. * **Cross-Functional Collaboration** * Partner with Operations, Planning, and Technology teams to integrate analytics into network planning and execution. * Provide insights that inform schedule adjustments, fleet utilization, and contingency planning. * **Innovation \& Continuous Improvement** * Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and automate recurring analyses. * Contributes to the development of new planning methodologies and tools that enhance decision-making and operational agility. **Qualifications:** * Current graduate student pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline * Proficiency in SQL (Python and R are a plus) for data extraction and analysis; experience building decision-support tools, reporting tools dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) * Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical analysis, modeling, and scenario evaluation. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders. * A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement. * Knowledge of operations, scheduling, and capacity planning, ideally in airlines, transportation or other complex network operations **Skills:** * Structured problem-solving approach for highly unstructured business problems * Open-minded questioning, "What would need to be true for this to work?" * Business plan creation to synthesize disparate information into a unified set of milestones, timelines, resources, risks, and dependencies required to deliver financial value * Confident and adaptable communication to sell ideas, create unified plans, and share progress across all levels of the company, from frontline to executive * Project management across all lifecycle phases, including analysis, planning, execution, and activation * Excellent written and visual communication skills, with an emphasis on creating high-quality presentations to convey analysis, plans, and progress effectively to a variety of stakeholder audiences * Presentation preparation for different purposes, including aligning stakeholders, planning project activities, and reporting on business performance * Data analysis to connect operations with financial results through SQL, Python, R, Excel, or similar #intern At **Atlas Air Worldwide**, we believe in the power of people, the promise of innovation, and the responsibility we hold to each other, to our customers, and to the planet.
