Software Engineering Intern, Customer Experience
Role Description
Luminate is the entertainment industry's preeminent data and insights partner, serving as the single source of truth for record labels, film studios, talent agencies, and every part of the music and entertainment ecosystem. By aggregating data from over 500 verified sources, Luminate provides customers with the objective validation needed to make critical business decisions and track global market share. While its data famously fuels the Billboard Charts and the Variety Streaming Originals Charts, Luminate's primary mission is to empower the entertainment industry with essential, accurate and objective data.
We are looking for a full-stack software engineering intern to join our team for the summer. We have a deep bench of domain expertise, what we want from you is a passion for application engineering with an aptitude for learning and practicing collaborative, iterative, software development with a small but growing team. We're maintaining and building out our SaaS platform for the music, film and TV industries. We're supporting our data science team to empower them to do what they do best. You'll need strong communication skills, technical fluency, empathy, humility, and an appreciation for where the entertainment industries have been and where we hope to take them.
You will work with the Customer Experience team, composed of product managers, designers, and your fellow engineers to deliver a high-quality software platform that brings value to our customers in the music industry. Our overall mission is to take the foundations of technology that underpin our work in the music business and expand that out to new forms of media and new types of customers.
**What You'll Do**
* Work with your team to deliver on Luminate's product roadmap utilizing modern software development practices, including cutting-edge AI development tools.
* Develop not just the code, but all other parts of the stack: test suites, infrastructure, documentation, etc.
* Tackle bugs and tech hygiene tickets from the backlog.
* Contribute back to our engineering practice in ways that best demonstrate your own unique strengths. We strive for continuous improvement!
* Work with stakeholders including data, design, product teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
**Preferred Qualifications**
To be considered for this role, you must be:
* Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field
* Available for 8-12 weeks between June-August 2026 to work in our New York office
**Additionally, we'd love to hear from you if you have:**
* Interest in the entertainment and music industry
* A solid foundation of Computer Science fundamentals and object-oriented design principles
* Experience writing code in Java, Spring Boot, React, and/or TypeScript
* Understanding of basic database interaction
* Strong communication skills and a desire to learn and grow as an engineer
**As Luminate values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.**
**For candidates based in New York:** A good faith estimate of the salary is $18\.50 per hr. upon hire. We consider your skills and experience, what similar jobs pay at companies of our size, and ensure fair pay among colleagues. Final base salary offer amounts are determined by factors including your experience and expertise. In addition we are proud to offer additional perks and benefits that contribute and complete our total compensation package. Luminate reserves the right to change our compensation bands at any time.
