Software Engineer Intern
Role Description
**About Tesphase**
Tesphase is smart software for solar homes with an EV. It automatically sends surplus solar into your EV instead of selling it back to the grid for pennies, with no new hardware. Tesphase works across major solar and EV brands and is available on the web at app.tesphase.co and on the App Store. We have 150+ registered users across the US, France, and Australia, and our drivers have covered 28,000+ miles on excess solar.
**About the role**
We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to help expand the integrations that power Tesphase. You will work directly with our founders on the backend that connects to solar systems, home batteries, EVs, and chargers, and turns their live data into automated charging decisions. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working with APIs and wants to ship code that real homes rely on every day.
**What you'll do**
* Build and maintain integrations with solar, battery, EV, and charger platforms through their APIs
* Implement secure account connections, token handling, and data syncing
* Improve the reliability of our data pipeline, including error handling, retries, and monitoring
* Write tests and help keep our services stable as more homes connect
* Help reduce API usage and costs as we scale
* Contribute to technical decisions on a small, fast-moving team
**What we're looking for**
* Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
* Experience with Python or TypeScript
* Familiarity with REST APIs and working from third-party documentation
* Comfortable with Git and working independently in a remote setting
* Clear communication and strong ownership of your work
**Nice to have**
* Experience with PostgreSQL, Next.js, or cloud platforms such as AWS or Vercel
* Exposure to OAuth flows, webhooks, or streaming data
* Interest in energy, EVs, or climate tech
**Details**
* Remote, 10 to 20 hours per week, flexible schedule
* Start date: October 2026 · Duration: 3 to 6 months
* Compensation: Unpaid, with academic credit available. Interns who perform well will be considered for a paid role with equity.
* Direct mentorship from the founders and real ownership of work that ships
