Backend Engineering Intern

About the Role We are looking for a Backend Developer Intern to join our engineering team and help build reliable, scalable backend systems for modern applications. You will work closely with engineers and product team members to develop APIs, manage application data, improve backend performance, and support new product features. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys server-side development, databases, and solving technical problems behind the scenes. Responsibilities * Develop and maintain backend services and application logic * Build and integrate REST APIs * Work with relational and NoSQL databases * Design and improve data models and backend workflows * Debug, test, and troubleshoot backend issues * Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability * Support authentication, authorization, and third-party integrations * Collaborate with frontend developers on product features * Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code * Participate in code reviews and technical discussions * Assist with deployment and ongoing system improvements Qualifications * Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field * Familiarity with Node.js, Python, Java, or another backend programming language * Basic understanding of server-side development and APIs * Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases * Understanding of Git and version control * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Good communication and teamwork abilities * Ability to learn new technologies quickly Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Node.js, Express, FastAPI, Django, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks * Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar databases * Experience building or integrating REST APIs * Understanding of authentication and application security * Familiarity with Docker or containerized applications * Exposure to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Railway, or similar platforms * Personal projects, GitHub contributions, or previous internship experience are a plus What We Value We value practical problem-solving, clean code, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
