Quantified Energy Labs
Southeast Asia
Android Developer Intern (Drone & Mapping Systems)
Role Description
**About Us**
Quantified Energy (QE) is a solar technology company spun off from the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
We build AI-powered software and autonomous drone systems to help solar farms monitor and diagnose panel health at scale.
Our flagship product is an autonomous drone-based electroluminescence (EL) mapping system—a “solar X-ray” that allows engineers to quickly detect hidden defects in large solar farms with high accuracy and low cost.
At QE, you won’t just write software, you’ll work directly with drones, real field data, and real-world engineering problems that impact renewable energy systems globally.
**Position: Android Developer (Drone Systems)**
We’re looking for an Android Developer to join our engineering team in Singapore to build mobile applications for drone-based solar inspection systems.
You will help develop apps that power real-time drone operations—used by pilots and field engineers during actual solar farm inspections.
This is a hands-on engineering role where your apps will be used in real field missions with drones.
**What You’ll Do**
1\. Build and improve Android apps using **Java** (Kotlin is a bonus).
2\. Integrate mobile apps with **DJI drones** using the DJI Mobile SDK.
3\. Develop real-time interfaces showing:
· Live drone location \& flight paths
· Telemetry data
· Live video streams
· Interactive maps (Google Maps / MapLibre / HERE Maps)
4\. Build messaging tools for communication between pilots and field teams
5\. Work closely with backend and drone engineers to deliver reliable real-time systems
6\. Test apps directly in real-world environments (including field operations with drones)
7\. Improve performance, stability, and usability of mission-critical applications
**What We’re Looking For**
* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
* Experience in Android development (Java required; Kotlin is a plus)
* Interest in working with real-time systems, maps, or hardware integration
* Experience with DJI Mobile SDK or mapping SDKs is a strong plus
* Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and learn quickly
* Interest in drones, robotics, or GIS is highly valued
**Internship Requirement**
* For internship applicants, **a minimum commitment of 6 months is required**
* Candidates who can stay longer are highly preferred
**Why Join QE?**
* Work on real drones used in actual solar farm inspections
* Build software that interacts with hardware \+ AI \+ real-time systems
* Fast-learning environment with cutting-edge deep-tech projects
* Opportunity to grow into roles in robotics, AI systems, or full-stack engineering
* Be part of a team working on clean energy and climate impact technology
* Based in Singapore office with hands-on field exposure
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1,500\.00 - $1,700\.00 per month
Benefits:
* Flexible schedule
Work Location: In person
