Role Description

Engineer – Intern Position Summary We are seeking an Engineering Intern to support PASCALL Systems product development. This role is designed for a curious, technically versatile student who wants hands-on experience at a fast-moving medical device startup. The intern will contribute directly to real product development work—not just shadow projects. Depending on team needs and your background, you may support signal processing pipelines, embedded systems testing, application features, or clinical data analysis. You will work alongside engineers, scientists, and clinical experts and be expected to take ownership of scoped deliverables. PASCALL actively uses agentic AI tools to accelerate development and documentation. We welcome interns who are comfortable experimenting with AI-assisted workflows, including using LLMs for code generation, data exploration, and technical writing. Responsibilities * Support engineering tasks across hardware, firmware, software, and/or data analytics depending on team priorities and candidate strengths. * Assist with data pipeline development, exploratory analysis, and visualization of EEG and physiological signals using tools such as Python, Jupyter notebooks, and SQL. * Contribute to testing, debugging, and documentation of hardware or software components. * Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., LLM-powered coding assistants, automated documentation) to accelerate development tasks and prototype solutions. * Collaborate with engineers and scientists to investigate technical problems and prototype solutions. * Document work clearly and consistently in accordance with team standards and quality system requirements. Qualifications Education * Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science / Analytics * GPA of 3\.6 or above required Experience and Skills * Hands-on experience with data analysis tools such as Python, Jupyter, or SQL * Comfort using AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor) for coding, data exploration, or technical writing * Curious, self-motivated, and a quick learner—able to take ownership of scoped tasks, pursue independent work, and communicate progress clearly * Meticulous and resourceful, with strong attention to detail and a track record of identifying and solving problems without being handed a solution * No specific hardware, firmware, or medical device experience required In your Cover Letter, answer each of the following question clearly: * What excites you about this position? * Tell us in detail about a technical project that you are most proud of. * List any questions you have about this position. About PASCALL SYSTEMS PASCALL is a Cambridge-based medical device company focused on advancing neuroscience-based personalized anesthesia monitoring.
