Software Engineering Intern - Bali, Indonesia
Role Description
**Location:**
Canggu, Bali, Indonesia
**Type:**
On-site Internship
**Duration:**
4–6 months
**Compensation:**
Unpaid internship, with potential opportunities for a future full-time position
**The Role**
We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern who wants to work on real products, real systems, and real technical problems.
You will support the development of software used across our portfolio companies, including web applications, backend services, APIs, internal platforms, and engineering tools.
This is not an internship built around theoretical exercises. You will contribute directly to software that supports active companies and operational teams.
Depending on the project, you may help take a feature from an initial idea through development, testing, deployment, and improvement in production.
**What You Could Be Building**
Your work may include:
* Developing backend services, APIs, and application features
* Connecting applications to databases and external services
* Building internal tools and working on web applications
* Debugging issues, improving performance, and maintaining reliability
* Testing new functionality and supporting production deployments
* Contributing to architecture decisions and working across technical teams
Your exact responsibilities will depend on your experience, technical strengths, and the projects currently being developed.
**The Companies You May Support**
Our wider group has spent more than 30 years building and operating companies internationally, with experience across New York, London, Tokyo, and Bali.
Today, our teams work from a 4,000 sqm campus in Canggu across energy, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, engineering, and software.
Projects across the group include:
**Zero-X**
— Developing thermochemical conversion and distributed energy systems, with more than 200 installations operating across 11 countries.
**Seraph Group**
— Developing decentralized bioproduction systems combining AI, robotics, and synthetic biology.
**Gemino AI**
— Building AI technology for industrial control and autonomous operations, including the OptiVX platform and Project Maya wearable AI system.
Software plays an important role across these companies, from operational platforms and automation tools to data systems and technical applications.
**What We're Looking For**
You may be a good fit if you:
* Are currently studying or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
* Have practical programming experience through university projects, internships, or previous employment
* Have experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C#, C++, APIs, databases, and Git
* Understand core programming concepts, data structures, and software development practices
* Can join us fully on-site in Bali for approximately 4–6 months
You do not need experience with every technology we use.
We are more interested in strong fundamentals, practical experience, curiosity, and your ability to learn and build.
This internship can also be completed as part of a university internship or placement requirement.
**Internship Setup**
* 4–6 months based in Canggu, Bali
* Fully on-site position
* Monday to Friday
* Working hours: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break
* Approximately 25 working hours per week
