Backend Development Intern

Backend + DevOps (GCP) Intern **Onsite | Full-Time Internship** Role Overview We’re looking for a motivated **Backend Development & DevOps Intern** who is excited to build, deploy, and maintain real-world applications while gaining hands-on experience with **Node.js, Express.js, databases, Linux, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker, and CI/CD**. You’ll work closely with our technical team on live projects, contributing to backend development, cloud infrastructure, application deployment, server management, and production troubleshooting. This is a highly practical internship designed for someone who wants to go beyond writing code and learn how to **build reliable backend systems, deploy applications to the cloud, and manage production infrastructure**. Key Responsibilities * Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using **Node.js, Express.js, Python, and REST APIs**. * Design, implement, and maintain databases using **PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and SQL**. * Build and integrate APIs, authentication systems, background jobs, and third-party services. * Deploy and manage applications on **Google Cloud Platform (GCP)**, including Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and other relevant services. * Configure and manage Linux servers, application processes, environment variables, and server resources. * Work with **Docker** to containerize applications and manage deployment environments. * Assist in setting up and maintaining **CI/CD pipelines** for automated builds, testing, and deployments. * Configure domains, DNS records, SSL certificates, reverse proxies, and web servers such as Nginx. * Monitor application performance, logs, uptime, resource utilization, and production errors. * Troubleshoot backend, networking, deployment, and infrastructure-related issues. * Work with Git and GitHub for version control, branching, collaboration, and release management. * Apply security best practices for API access, secrets management, server permissions, and cloud infrastructure. * Assist with cloud resource optimization, backup strategies, and infrastructure cost management. * Explore AI tools and automation to improve development, deployment, and operational workflows. * Maintain technical documentation and collaborate with the team to deliver reliable, production-ready applications. Who We’re Looking For * Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in **Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field**. * Good understanding of programming fundamentals and problem-solving. * Familiarity with at least one programming language, preferably **JavaScript/Node.js or Python**. * Basic understanding of backend development, REST APIs, databases, and authentication. * Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and basic command-line operations. * Basic understanding of Linux, networking, HTTP/HTTPS, and server-client architecture. * Strong interest in **Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud infrastructure, backend engineering, and DevOps**. * Willingness to learn Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management. * Ability to debug issues independently and research technical problems effectively. * Comfortable working onsite and collaborating with a technical team. * Prior projects, GitHub repositories, cloud deployments, or experience hosting applications are a strong advantage. * A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
