Manufacturing Engineering Summer Intern
Role Description
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
* **Project Support:** Lead effort to review and update tolerancing on released assembly drawings using SolidWorks. Interacting w/ Quality, Design and Production teams to ensure changes are fully vetted and compliant to customer requirements.
* **Process Improvement:** Provide support to manufacturing technicians in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
* **Data Analysis:** Collect and analyze data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and support decision-making processes using Minitab and/or MS Excel.
* **Documentation:** Create and maintain detailed documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* **Equipment Maintenance:** Assist in the maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work closely with other departments, such as R\&D, Quality, and Production, to support overall manufacturing goals.
* **Safety Compliance:** Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
**Education, Work Experience, Skills and Competencies Requirements:**
* **Education:** Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Program in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* **Technical Skills:** Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Certification), and statistical analysis tools.
* **Analytical Skills:** Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets.
* **Communication:** Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* **Team Player:** Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* **Attention to Detail:** High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Previous co-op or internship experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing software.
