Role Description
**Description:**
Support the design, development, testing, and integration of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) and related payloads. This internship is intended for individuals early in their engineering careers who are interested in gaining hands-on experience across hardware, software, and systems engineering disciplines.
The ideal candidate will be interested in working with multiple aspects of sUAS development, including embedded electronics, software, mechanical integration, testing, flight operations, and navigation-related systems.
This is a hybrid position based in Northglenn, CO, requiring regular in-person work alongside the engineering team.
**Job Role(s):**
* Assist with the design, integration, and testing of sUAS hardware, software, and payload systems
* Support embedded electronics and software development efforts, including prototyping, testing, and documentation
* Help integrate sensors, avionics, and other onboard systems with existing sUAS platforms
* Contribute to software development for embedded or Linux-based systems under guidance
* Assist with simulation, analysis, or validation activities related to system performance, controls, or navigation
* Support mechanical design tasks, CAD updates, or prototype assembly as needed
* Participate in lab work, ground testing, and flight-testing activities
* Document work and communicate progress with the team
**Required Experience:**
* Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Industrial Design, or a closely related field
* Strong interest in unmanned systems, robotics, or integrated hardware/software systems
* Fundamental understanding of at least one technical area (electrical, software, mechanical, controls, robotics, or PNT)
* Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and engineering workflows
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
**Desired Experience:**
* Exposure to embedded systems, electronics, or PCB design concepts
* Programming experience in Python, C, or C\+\+
* Familiarity with Linux or POSIX-based development environments
* Experience with CAD or mechanical design tools
* Exposure to robotics, control systems, or autonomy concepts
* Familiarity with Git or similar version control tools
* Academic, personal, or hobby projects involving drones, robotics, or embedded systems
Prior professional experience is not required
